This Site WAS Under Construction

The main road through town is now finished.  It only took 8 months or so to pave 4 km.  I took photos of the project at various phases of completion from the window of my 3rd floor office.  I layered these 4 photos to create one image that shows the progress from start to finish.  I wish I had a “before” shot to merge in there too, but I never took one.

Now that the road is done in Abi Adi we have bajajes (AKA tuk-tuk AKA rickshaw), sidewalks, and no more dust!  Cafes and restaurants are happy to be able to use their store fronts again and chairs have started showing up in front of business along the road.  They have begun to prepare the median for street trees too.  Abi Adi’s looking good!

The project is far from complete though.  The part in Abi Adi is done, but they still need to complete the sections connecting Abi Adi to the cities of Mekele and Adwa.

This post is a follow up to my post about the project.  Read it here!

Wow! What a difference. I’ll bet it makes walking around much much easier. Now if they can just get to some of those side streets…..

Very nice! That image merge gives a nice contrast.
